September contest 144mhz

This was an historic weekend. It was the last time the call sign PI4GN will be used on 144mhz for the Veron Vhf, Uhf, Shf beker contest. Due to changes (if they will be accepted) in rules next year the 144mhz group will use the call sign PA1T (jo33jf) and 70cm and up group will use the call sign PI4GN. Qsl for both calls goes to PA1T.

Johan PE9DX, PA4PS and myself where the operators. Jan PA0VAJ, Nap PA1NG and Thomas PA1M helped with startup and break down of the contest antennas. We had a good weekend with nice weather but vey changeable condx. We thank all for the nice contacts. Next major contest here on 144mhz will be The Marconi contest. Operator will be Peter PA4PS

 

Updated skimmer server.

Pete N4ZR asked me to update my skimmer server software to version 1.3. I did so. Run now version 1.3. This removes a few bugs.

Second version of the 40m vertical

After some discussions with Thomas PA1M I made a second version off the 40m vertical. I changed the wooden pole from a double one to a single. (pa1m) I also changed the pivot with a hinge. At last I made at the bottom off the pvc pipe a coupler. I now can easily remove the vertical element when I do not use it. (Summer time).

Tried to repair 40m trombone Steppir.

Today Arjen PA7LV and Thomas PA1M were here to help me to take out the 40m dipole and see if there is the same problem as at Thomas his dipole.

My dipole also has trouble to go to 40m. We found a rib in the dipole and we filed this away. Johan PF7M told that this could not be the real problem but up till now it is function well.
I hope it will keep up. Otherwise I will remove the 30-40m dipole and bring it back to a 4 ele Steppir from 20 till 6m.

The driver element of the C31XR was a little bit out of position. Today I cranked down the mast and set it back.
